The closure of tourist and educational tracks in the National Park from 1 November until 15 June

- No access to Hruby vrch and Bobrovecke sedlo from Juranova dolina - red marking.
The closure of tourist and educational tracks in the National Park from 1 January until 15 June.
Symbolical cemetary (Symbolicky cintorin) under Ostrva - yellow marking from both directions.
Note: All seasonal closures of various localities are indicated on notice boards placed directly in those locations.
Movement of tourists in the National Park off the tourist and educational tracks is permissible as follows.
- Visitors in the National Park are permitted to walk off the tourist and educational tracks in the company of authorised guides apart from the following localities:
- from the ridge Siroka Javorinska to the NW of Zabi vrch, Rovienky, Svistova dolina and the end of Bielovodska dolina; the South border of this area is the line connecting Velky Zabi stit - Ceske pleso - Hviezdoslavov vodopad - Litvorove pleso - Prielom. This restriction does not apply to the access to Ceska dolina along Cesky potok;
- Kolova dolina with all adjacent valleys and climbing walls, NE part of Cierna Javorova dolina bordering in the South with Cierny Javorovy potok and the ridge Snehove veze;
- Belianske Tatry;
- Huncovska kotlinka including the SE part of Velka Svistovka;
- Slavkovska dolina inlcuding all climbing walls up to Granatova lavka;
- Stolska dolina bordering from the North with the ridge Ostrva - Koncista and from the South with the tourist track Magistrala;
- the area of Krivan with all adjacent ridges and valleys (Nefcerka, Kotliny, Skaredy zlab, Za handel, Sucha voda); the NE border is the ridge Hrube and the East border is the ridge Furkotske veze and Kozi chrbat.
- It is permissible for a maximum of 30 tourists, including authorised guides, to access any one peak within one day where there is no tourist or educational track. One authorised guide is allowed to guide maximum of 5 tourists within the National Park.
- Each guide must log every single trip with the National Park Authorities (either by telephone, walkie-talkie or in person) providing full name, the number of guided tourists, the peak to be reached and the alternative routes in case of the bad weather. This information must be submitted as soon as possible but not later than in the morning of the ascend. The guide must make sure that conditions stated in the item 2 above are met.
- If walking off any tourist and educational tracks each guide has to provide his/her certificate confirming his/her ability to guide tourists off the public tracks. This certificate has to be provided on the spot if requested by the National Park wardens.
The following tracks are reserved for the alpine skiing
- Zverovka - Spalena;
- Madajka;
- Ziarska dolina;
- Rackova dolina;
- Podbanske;
- Strbske Pleso - Interski, Esicko, Solisko;
- Smokovec - Hrebienok, Jakubkova luka, and the slope behind the hotel Bellevue;
- Tatranska Lesna;
- Tatranska Lomnica - Jamy, Start, Cucoriedky;
- Skalnate pleso - Lomnicke sedlo;
- Zdiar - Strednica;
- Tatranska javorina - Gombosi vrch.
The following tracks are reserved for the cross-country skiing
- Official cross-country tracks around the hotel FIS at Strbsle Pleso;
- Tracks in the area of Spalena;
- Tracks around the village Stola;
- Tourist tracks;
- Tracks in wooded areas.
All tourist tracks and tracks in the woods are deemed to be appropriate for cross-country skiing subject to good snow conditions and seasonal closure restrictions as per the Notice no. 3 above. Pedestrians have always the right of way on all of these tracks.
The National Park offers the following tracks for public cycling
- Lysa Polana - up to the chalet in Bielovodska dolina.
- Biela voda - chalet at Zelene pleso.
- Kezmarske Zlaby - Mlynceky.
- The circle from the cable car station in Tatranska Lomnica to the cable car station 'Start'.
- The circle above Eurocamp.
- Stara Lesna - Tatranska Lomnica.
- Stary Smokovec - Hrebienok.
- The circle above Nova Lesna.
- The circle Nova Lesna - Stara Lesna.
- Dolny Smokovec - Zakovska polana - Gerlachov.
- Novy Smokovec from the tram stop Sibir - Zakovska polana - Gerlachov.
- Tatranska Polianka - Sliezsky dom.
- Vysne Hagy - up to the chalet in the village Stola.
- Nova Polianka - Stola.
- Tram stop Popradske pleso up to the hotel at Popradske pleso.
- Podbanske - Koprova dolina.
- Podbanske - Ticha dolina.
- Pribylina - Ziarska dolina.
- The beginning of Ziarska dolina - up to the chalet in Ziarska dolina.
- Zuberec - Rohacska dolina.
- Zverovka - Latana dolina.
- Zuberec - Habovka - Oravica.
Tracks stated in the items 1 - 22 are reserved for cycling purposes subject to the restrictions stipulated in the Notice no. 3, A and B above and the speed limit of 15-20km/hr.
Climbing and rock-climbing is allowed in all localities of the National Park apart from the following areas
- the ridge from Siroka Javorinska up to the NW part of Zabi vrch, Rovienky, Svistova dolina and the end of Bielovodska dolina; the South border of this area is the line between Velky Zabi stit - Ceske pleso - Hviezdoslavov vodopad - Litvorove pleso - Prielom (this restriction is not applicable to the access to Ceska dolina along Cesky potok and to the area of Maly Mlynar with the descend over Mlynarovo sedlo during 21 December - 20 March);
- Kolova dolina, inlcuding all adjacent valleys and climbing walls; the NE part of Cierna Javorova dolina bordering in the South with Cierny Javorovy potok (stream) and the ridge Snehove veze (this restriction is not applicable to the access to Ladove dolinky from Mala Studena dolina through Ladove sedlo by-passing Snehove veze from the North);
- Belianske Tatry;
- Huncovska koltlinka including the SE part of Svistovka;
- Slavkovska dolina including climbing walls up to Granatova lavka;
- Stolska dolina bordering in the North with the ridge Ostrva - Koncista and in the South with the tourist track Magistrala;
- the area of Krivan with all adjacent ridges and valleys (Nefcerka, Kotliny, Skaredy zlab, Za handel, Sucha voda); the NE border is the ridge Hrube and the East border is the ridge Furkotske veze and Kozi chrbat (this restriction is not applicable to Rameno Krivan accessible from the valley Nefcerka during 21 December - 20 March starting from the climbing wall;
- all nature reserves in the West Tatras.
Conditions for carrying out climbing and rock-climbing in designated areas.
- Climbing activies can be carried out by members of any climbing club.
- Climbers are permitted to enter the National Park off the tourist and educational tracks and during the period of closures only for the purpose to ascend a peak with the grade II or higher on the scale of difficulty. All climbers should ensure that they respect and protect the environment of the National Park. Climbers carrying out individual ascends can access any ridges from the grade II on the scale of difficulty apart from Kopske sedlo - Jahnaci stit and Velka Svistovka - Kezmarsky stit. Any climbing within the grade I or II on the scale of difficulty is permissible to be carried out only in the summer if it is necessary for the descend, or in the period 21 December - 20 March in both directions when the terraine is used for the winter training.
- It is compulsary for all climbers to carry with them their membership card and to provide it if requested by the National Park wardens. During training all trainnees have to be accompanied by an experienced climber with a valid climbing certificate.
- It is not permissible to bivouac anywhere in the mountains. Organised tours of climbers are allowed to use the camp in Bielovodska dolina which is not open to public. More demanding tours (eg winter tour of the main ridge) must be logged in advance with the National Park Authorities.
- All climbers must log their destination and proposed tracks in the log book either in their hotel or in their camp before departure. If the estimated time of arrival exceeds more than 6 hours it would be considered as the request for the emergency rescue. The leader of the group or any other representative in the base camp should organise the search party if the arrival time of the climbing group exceeds 6 hours.
- All conditions stipulated in items 1 - 5 above will apply also to the rock-climbing.
Areas reserved for ski-alpinism are as follows
- Velka Studena dolina from Zbojnicka chata (chalet) along Sive plesa through Priecne sedlo towards Teryho chata (chalet) in Mala Studena dolina; then continue under Macacia veza through Baranie sedlo and Velka Zmrzla dolina to chalet at Zelene pleso;
- Mlynicka dolina from the waterfall Skok up to Soliskove sedlo and back; the alternative route back is the skiing track from chata (chalet) Solisko;
- Ziarska dolina - Velke Zavraty and Male Zavraty; the starting point being in Ziarska dolina;
- Bobrovecka Vapenica - Cervenec - Babky - Velka Kopa - sedlo Priehyba and back;
- Spalena dolina;
- ski-track Spalena - Salatinska dolina.
Conditions for carrying out ski-alpinism
- Ski-alpinism activies can be carried out by members of any ski-alpinism club.
- Ski-alpinists are permitted to enter the National Park off the tourist and educational tracks and during the period of closures only for the purpose of ski-alpinism. Ski-alpinism is permissible to be carried out during 21 December - 15 April, subject to good snow conditions and no avalanche alert.
- The maximum number of ski-alpinists at a single location is restricted to 30 persons.
- Each ski-alpinist must log his/her destination (either by telephone, walkie-talkie or in person) with the National Park Authorities as soon as possible but not later than the morning of that day. In case of bad weather any alternative routes need to be logged as well. Each ski-alpinist has to make sure that the activity is in compliance with item 3 above.
- It is compulsary for all ski-alpinist to carry with them their membership card and to provide on the request to the National Park wardens.
Areas limited to gliders and paragliders
- Corridor from Lomnicke sedlo - Skalnate pleso - Tatranska Lomnica during the period of 15 December - 15 April and 16 June - 31 October.
- Slavkovsky nos - Smokovce - Nova Lesna during the period of 16 June - 31 October.
- Spaleny Zlab only within the area of the ski track during the period of 1 June - 15 April.
- Chalet Solisko - ski track - Strbske Pleso during the period of 15 December - 15 April and 1 July - 15 September.
The above areas are reserved for gliding and paragliding subject to the following conditions:
- the maximum flights per one single area within one day does not exceed 10 flights;
- each flight is logged (either by telephone, walkie-talkie or in person) with the National Park Authorities at the latest in the morning of a day of the flight providing the full name of the glider and the location of the flight. The glider has to make sure that conditions stipulated in the item a) above are met.
- the flight is carried out between 9:00am and 4:00pm.
